Scott Harvey Winery J&S Reserve 2009 Barbera, Shenandoah Valley, Amador County CA:   Bright fruit and anise spice capture the senses with this polished Barbera.  Pure juicy fruit without being overly sweet fill the mouth, and not to be missed are the alluring licorice and spice highlights that add further dimension.  A medium bodied, beautifully crafted Barbera.

Scott Harvey Winery Jana Wines NV Brut, Napa Valley, CA:   Yeasty aromas and a touch of spice grace the nose with this elegant and lively sparkling wine.   Apple and quince flavors from start to finish are delicate and pure, and join the yeasty, spicy notes to create a delightful lip-smackingly delicious package.

Scott Harvey Winery Jana Wines 2005 Cathedral, Martin Vineyard, Coombsville, Napa Valley CA:   This elegant made primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon boasts cassis, black cherry and nicely integrated oak.  I really appreciate the balance and restraint in alcohol.   At 13.5% this is a perfect food pairing wine – try it with a juicy steak off the grill.

Dry Creek Vineyards 2010 Sauvignon Blanc, Dry Creek Valley:  Beautifully grassy and expressive on the nose and the fresh cut grass notes alongside crisp green apple and pear are mirrored on the scrumptious palate.  Bright, clean and fresh with vibrant herbal notes and lime zest adding to its verve.

Patz & Hall 2010 Dutton Ranch Chardonnay, Russian River Valley, CA:  Reminiscent of a top notch white Burgundy, this Chardonnay showcases clove scented apples and fresh pear chutney from the first whiff.   Floral notes add further dimension, and a splash of citrus keeps it bright and balanced.  Focused and well balanced with a memorable finish.

Patz & Hall 2009 Hyde Vineyard, Pinot Noir Carneros CA:   Earthy, forest floor aromas scream varietal correctness and sense of place here!  Salacious entry packed with black cherries, wild mushrooms and spices that blossom fully on the palate.  This impressive Pinot Noir is complex with a rich smooth texture and velvety tannins that add elegance; and the long lasting finish simply soars.

Far Niente 2010 Chardonnay, Napa Valley, CA:    This pretty Chard displays brilliant clarity in the glass.  Aromas and flavors of toasty well integrated oak, hints of earth and tree ripened pears greeting the nose are echoed on the palate.   Nicely weighted and balanced with a purity and roundness about it from start to long, minerally finish.

Far Niente 2006 Dolce, Napa Valley CA:   Floral and honeyed aromas waft from the glass with this decadently rich late harvest wine yet the sweetness stays in check alongside the pretty level of acidity.  This tasty wine boasts a round and lush mouthful of creamy pears and caramelized nuts – all the dessert you’ll need!  Also a fine pairing with fois gras or duck liver pate.
